‘If the Earth’s temperature were to raise by 5°c, the majority of Earth would be uninhabitable’ - Megan, Year 9. This statement alone is reason enough to promote the prevention of global warming. In textiles, students are actively working to encourage less emissions of greenhouse gases.
They are doing this in the form of making T-shirts in the style of Vivienne Westwood, a designer that makes clothes with the meaning of ‘Stop Global Warming’. This fashion designer has got other celebrities to wear her clothes, widening the audience likely to attract this message.
Why?
Global warming is an issue likely to affect most of us in our own lifetime. We already see the effect on the polar ice caps and so it is an important message that is being given to the next generations.
Students are being taught about the importance of using green energy and preventing carbon emissions. Emilie, year 9, stated ‘people need to stop Global Warming’ which is a message that we believe should be more prevalent within the future.
